  1. Senior Safety and Security Officer

ملخص العمل

Responsible for following up the safety and security situations of WATAN teams and sending recommendations for this. To submit periodic reports and keep the administration in the picture of all areas where WATAN operates and the degree of seriousness and the current or future possibility of working in these areas.

متطلبات الوظيفة

  • Bachelor’s degree in Humanitarian Response, Development Studies or relevant technical field
  • No less than 3 – 4  years experience in the safety and security field.
  • Speaking: English & Arabic, Turkish is preferable. 
  • Preferable experience in the following areas:
  • Work experience in areas of armed conflict
  • Experience in dealing with people from different environments
  • Experience in dealing with international institutions in the field of safety and security.
  • Establish and maintain relations and a network of contacts allowing the collection of information related to the humanitarian access in Syria, specifically in the areas of intervention
  • Liaise with key stakeholders, which may include Governor Offices, Municipalities, Local Council inside Syria, border offices ..etc
  • Develop and update the list of contacts and stakeholders map per district/ sub-district in Syria
  • Develop and regularly update internal maps on safe and unsafe areas, in coordination with the Country Director.
  • Support the programme teams to develop and implement community engagement strategies that promote acceptance and access
  • Assess the situation in Syria for collecting information from the formal and informal network and/or the team and/or electronic means (email, blogs, webpages, Twitter, etc.)
  • Report immediately to the line manager and internal stakeholders any sudden changes on the access in the areas where WATAN operates
  • Develop and implement humanitarian access strategies and approaches tailored to local contexts in field sites throughout Syria
  • Ensure humanitarian access approaches are responsive to the local context and include overarching community engagement components
  • Work to encourage stakeholders to work with WATAN in ensuring that staff and programmes are safe and allowed to continue humanitarian activities in Syria
  • Represent WATAN externally related to Syria cross-border operation as required 
  • Implement security policies, protocols and procedures
  • Reports on any field visits and training deliveries undertaken

المسئولية

Senior Safety and Security Officerسوف تكون مسؤولة عن :

  • Coordination and cooperation with security and safety officials in other organizations
  • Monitor the security situation and report continuously on important events and indicators and link them to the work places of the field teams and make sure to publish and inform everyone in a timely manner
  • Ensure that all workers in Syria are well trained in safety and security matters
  • Work as a link between the organization and the community to collect news and ensure the safety of the situation
  • Attend meetings on security, safety and organization representation
  • Monitor the security situation on a daily basis and send recommendations as needed
  • Prepare periodic security reports and security maps
  • Follow-up with security and safety officials in the field offices and receive reports and updates from them
  • Send security updates to those who are connected to the Organization periodically and send updates and security warnings to employees when needed
  • Submit a weekly report on the status of all places where the organization operates or where it can work
  • Communicate with all military and civilian authorities to find out the latest data and the safety of the areas where the organization operates
