WATAN Foundation has signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding with Idlib University and the Awassi Sheep Protection and Development Association to launch a comprehensive training program under the EU-funded Awassi Sheep Value Chain Project.
Through this agreement, WATAN — as the implementing organization — will provide the financial, logistical, and technical support needed for the program, while Idlib University contributes its academic expertise and scientific supervision, and the Association facilitates field coordination and engagement with local breeders and farmers.
The program aims to enhance the skills of Awassi sheep breeders, fodder crop producers, and value-chain workers, combining academic knowledge with field experience to introduce modern agricultural and veterinary practices that improve productivity and sustainability.
This partnership reflects WATAN’s developmental vision of building strong bridges between academia and local communities, empowering rural livelihoods, and advancing food security and sustainable economic growth across northwest Syria.
